Silver Sickles appear at Gringott’s Wizarding bank.

Wizarding currency consists of three different coins; they are: Galleon, Sickle and Knut. They are gold, silver, and bronze respectively.

17 Sickles in a Galleon, 29 Knuts in a Sickle, meaning there are 493 Knuts to a Galleon.

Around the edge of each coin is a series of numerals which represent a serial number belonging to the Goblin that cast the coin.

An imposing white building located in Diagon Alley in London England. Gringott’s is the only banking establishment in the wizarding world. It is owned and operated by Goblins.

It was started in 1474 by a goblin called Gringott.  In addition to storing money and valuables for wizards and witches, one can go there to exchange Muggle money for Wizarding currency. Hermione Granger’s parents did just that when paying for her school supplies.

According to Hagrid, Gringotts is almost the safest place in the Wizarding world, second only to Hogwarts!
